When I run a report, a Type Mismatch error occurs and certain hours in Icon Time Source are not calculating correctly on reports. How do I fix this?
his problem can occur if you have manually edited punches in the Punches screen and you did not assign a valid department to a punch pair for that pay period.
View or print out the report and review the department column in the report.
1. Make note of all punches that are missing a department assignment or show a department assignment of UNKNOWN. 2. Go to the Punches screen for the appropriate employee and assign a current, valid department in the department column for the punch pair. Press the tab key and verify that the total hours for the shift appears in the HOURS column. 3. Repeat the above steps until all punch pairs have a department assignment. 4. Run a report again. If you have fixed all the punches, the error will go away and the hours will calculate correctly on your reports.
NOTE: If the problem continues, try the following also:
If you are using TimeVue:
* Go to the Departments screen. * There are some icons at the top of this screen. Go to the last icon on the right and make sure the "Calculate autolunch/Sum daily hours" is disabled. * Close the department screen and run reports again.
If you are using TimeSource:
* Go to the Time Clock Rules screen and uncheck the Auto Lunch By Day option. Close this screen and run your reports again.

RSI Handpunch, HP1000, HP2000, HP3000, HP4000 hand detection issues
# heck the camera calibration settings.
* This can be found by pressing the NO button on the keypad 11 times. A series of letters and numbers will appear. A GOOD setting will appear similar to: r0 c-1 e100. If any of these settings are VERY high then the camera calibration is not good. If the "e" or exposure value is over 120, it may be difficult for the camera to detect hands. This means there is too much light or glare in the area. Try adjusting the ambient light and log in again.
# Try to recalibrate the camera if needed:
* Hopefully, the unit will recognize a supervisor. * Have the Supervisor for the Handpunch press the Clear and Enter buttons on the keypad, enter the supervisor code, place hand, and select Password 1. * Select YES at the Recalibration option and press YES again to recalibrate the camera. Check to see if the calibration numbers have improved. * NOTE: If only certain employees are having problems with hand detection, make sure the exposure setting is good, remove the employee from the unit and enroll them again.
# If you cannot get into Supervisor Mode, try cleaning the unit.
* Use Windex to clean the Platen area and the window above the area where the hands are placed. * Remove the clock from the wall. You may have to remove the back panel of the clock (4 screws). * With a can of compressed air, try blowing out any possible dust that might be on the inside of the camera window and camera area. Be careful not to jar the camera. * See if the hands can be detected properly after doing this. Repeat the procedure to recalibrate the camera again.
# If the behavior does not change, the last option is to erase the memory of the clock. This will remove all data off of the clock. Supervisors and employees will have to be enrolled again. Poll the clock first.
* Unplug the power to the clock. * Press the small, white reset button on the back of the clock and hold it down while plugging the power back into the clock. * If you do this properly, you will get a display option to do a hard or soft reset on the clock. Select "9" to reset all. * Press Clear and Enter on the keypad of the clock, select Password 4, and enroll the supervisor(s) and employees again.
# If this does not work, the only remaining option is to setup a service call with TIME CLOCK MAN support. The clock will have to be inspected and repaired.

How To Set The Punch Time On A Lathem Mechanical Clock
Lathem Time Corporations Mechanical Recorders are ideal for payroll time or job costing. To set the time on a mechanical clock, the clock model and how it prints must be determined. After determining this information, the face as well as the punch must be set to the correct time.

6. Place 1 to 3 drops of the 3-N-1 Oil or WD-40 between the wheels.
7. Rotate each will 360° 2 to 3 times to work the lubrication between each wheel.

Runtime Error 13: Type Mismatch From The PC Message Checker Or MSGCHECK.EXE
The lathem PayClock EZ has an extensive help system built into the software. This help system had a Message Checker utility that checked for messages regarding updates and upgrades for PayClock Software. This has been replaced with the Communications Panel in PayClock EZ Version 5.
In PayClock EZ 2003 and PayClock EZ 2004, it is possible to receive a Runtime Error 13: Type Mismatch while working in the program. When clicking OK, the program will continue to run. However, the error message will continue to return about every 15 minutes. This error is caused by the PayClock EZ Message Checker.
In PayClock EZ 2003 and PayClock EZ 2004, the PC Message Checker was used to check for important announcements from Lathem in reference to Updates and Upgrades. In later versions, PayClock now uses the Communications Panel. Disabling the PC Message Checker will prevent the Runtime Error 13: Type Mismatch from occurring. There are two methods to disabling the PC Message Checker.
One method to disable the PC Message Checker is:
1. Close PayClock EZ.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Open Local Disk C or the drive where PayClock EZ is installed.
4. Open the PayClock folder.
5. Open PCIHSV.EXE or PCIHSV.
This will open the PayClock Interactive Help System Viewer.
6. If the PayClock Help Viewer is displayed with Display Captions while video is running checked, click OK.
7. In the PayClock Interactive Help System Viewer, click the down arrow to the right of the Help button.

Runtime Error 7: Out Of Memory When Opening Reports
n older versions of PayClock EZ prior to PayClock EZ 2003 (Version 3.71) or a version of PayClock Pro prior to PayClock Pro Version 4, a Runtime Error 7: Out Of Memory can occur when trying to open Reports. This is due to several pay historical pay periods in PayClock. These periods remain until they are archived to remove the older from from the database.
Older versions of PayClock could hold up to 256 pay periods before archiving is absolutely necessary. Depending on the Pay Period Type, PayClock can hold the historical data in the database for years. It is recommended to archive at least once a year. Pay Period Type Database Limit Weekly 4 Years, 48 Pay Periods Biweekly 9 Years, 22 Pay Periods Semi-Monthly 10 Years, 16 Pay Periods Monthly 21 Years, 4 Pay Periods Custom 21 Years, 4 Pay Periods
To correct the Runtime Error 13: Type Mismatch on opening Reports:
1. Click the Submit a Ticket link to submit a ticket to our Technical Support Team.
2. In the messaging area of the ticket, enter 'Runtime Error 7: Type Mismatch when accessing reports.'
3. Attach the PCLS1.tad file from the C:\PayClock\Database folder.
We will repair the file and send it back. The e-mail response could show up in bulk or junk mail folders. It is recommended to add support@lathem.com to the e-mail address book. When the file is received, the file(s) must be saved back into the PayClock\Database folder:
1. Close PayClock, if it is open.
2. Save the attached file(s) into the PayClock\Database folder, replacing the old file
3. Open PayClock.
4. Review the reports.
Before closing the pay period, the database must be archived in order to prevent this from happening again. It is IMPORTANT to archive BEFORE closing the pay period.

Do salaried and FLSA exempt employees use the Time Clock System?
Time and attendance tracking is not just for hourly workers. Salaried employees’ time must also be tracked. Why? Tracking salaried employees' time helps you to:
* Comply with FLSA overtime regulations for nonexempt workers * Ensure salaried employees don’t cheat the company (by working fewer than 40 hours/week) * Ensure salaried employees don’t cheat themselves (by working too many hours) * Monitor staffing levels * Track FMLA leave eligibility and usage * Request time off without administrative hassles * Provide data for performance evaluations

What are Time Clock Systems Employee Self Service Kiosks
Employee Self Service provides an online timesheet that empowers employees while reducing workload for HR.
* Employees gain convenient access to attendance information. * Employees punch or enter hours worked; transfer to different departments or locations. * Employees see their schedule, benefit, and archived time card information; and request time off. * Administrative burden on HR is reduced.
The system offers tremendous flexibility, giving employees a choice of time entry sheets so they can capture and report time in a familiar way.
Employee Self Service kiosks are typically located in common areas, such as lunch rooms. Security is provided by individual PINs that allow employees access to their own information.

The minute hand is held on by a screw, then the hand, then a locking washer. The hour hand is a sleeve, pressed on to a brass shaft. The hour hand's diameter is adjustable. Remove the minute hand, keep the parts in order: Screw/hand/washer. Use a screwdriver and pry up the hour hand. Approach the ring from two sides. Put the 1/2" shaft at the base, the round area and give it a slight crimp. That will tighten the fitting. Press it back one and replace the minute hand.

For Recording Station wall mounting, we recommend the use of 1/8 self thread screws (provided with mounts). All Recording Stations are best installed at a height of 45 inches from the floor level.
The use of water sealant around the plate edges is recommended to protect the ink of the paper labels from being washed out during the rain season. Always use both mount plates. I-Button mounts can be installed in walls, doors, furniture, fences, metal surfaces, trees, etc.
It is also recommended that the I-Buttons be installed in areas which allow at least 8 inches of clearance so that they can be easily accessed using the reader.

Memory capacity for Acroprint M6000 reader
The memory capacity of the M6000 recorder is 5460 recordings.
When the memory of your reader reaches “full” status (5460 recordings), the reader will emit 1 red blink with 4 beeps each time you attempt a recording. This means your recorder is not reading anymore.
You will need to make a full download of data to your PC and then erase the memory to reset; now your reader will be ready for the next load cycle of 5460 new recordings.
A normal “full” download (5460 recordings) will take about three minutes and will advise you of its progress and function status.
If you desire to have a printed list of your recordings, select the List button on the menu bar to access a print preview. To print, select the Printer icon.

My employees cannot clock in to my Acroprint Time Q System.
If your time clock stops reading one badge only, then you will need to assign a new badge to that employee.
If your time clock suddenly stops reading all badges, the reader may have been repositioned. This can occur when an employee inserts their badge directly above the reader instead of inserting the card into the slot and pulling down.
If you remove your clock from the wall and look through the slot, you should see the reader coming from the right side of the slot and touching the left side. If it is in the shape of a triangle, your reader is out of position and is not making contact with the magnetic stripe of the badges. You can remedy this by pressing on the reader with the corner of an employee badge until it pops back into position.

Connect a printer directly to the Acroprint Time Q Plus terminal.
The terminal can support a serial or parallel printer. While newer ink-jet and laser printers may work with our system, Acroprint can only support printing from the terminal to an 80 column printer, also known as a dot-matrix printer. The printer cable (not included with the system) is a standard parallel printer cable with a 25-pin connector and a 36-pin Centronics type connector. For serial cable information contact your printer vendor.
Please Note: You may use any type of printer when printing from the PC software (Time Q+Plus and Paytime). The 80 column printer requirement is only for printing directly from the terminal.

Determine if the autopoll in Icon TimeSource or Icon TimeVue actually took place?
If you are using TimeSource, the file is located in the TsourceV7 directory on your hard drive. The default location is: C:\Program Files\TsourceV7
If you are using TimeVue, the file is located in the TimeVue directory. The default location is: C:\Program Files\Icon Time Systems\TimeVue
If autopoll was successful, you will see an entry in the text file similar to:
Mar-15-05 10:00 am : POLL Clock 1 LABTEST - Ok.
If an entry does NOT appear in the log file, the autopolling task was not setup or scheduled properly, the computer was shut down during the night, or the workstation does not have the proper security permissions to perform this task. Check with your system administrator to verify that your computer is properly setup to run scheduled tasks after you log off the computer.
If the autopoll appears in the PollActivity.txt file, but the polling FAILED, there may have been a connectivity or communications issue with the clock at the time of polling. Try recycling the power at the clock and check the serial or network connections for problems

Vulnerability in Internet Explorer
Microsoft is investigating a publicly reported vulnerability in Internet Explorer for customers running Windows XP or who have disabled Internet Explorer Protected Mode. This advisory contains information about which versions of Internet Explorer are vulnerable as well as workarounds and mitigations for this issue.
Our investigation so far has shown that if a user is using a version of Internet Explorer that is not running in Protected Mode an attacker may be able to access files with an already known filename and location. These versions include Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 4 on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service 4; Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; and Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, and Internet Explorer 8 on supported editions of Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3, and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2. Protected Mode prevents exploitation of this vulnerability and is running by default for versions of Internet Explorer on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008.
The vulnerability exists due to content being forced to render incorrectly from local files in such a way that information can be exposed to malicious websites.
